No Internet on a Windows PC: A Step-by-Step Check
Find out whether the problem is the device, the Wi-Fi connection, or the internet service before changing network settings.
What to do
- Check another phone or computer on the same network. If none can connect, check the router indicators and your service provider's outage information.
- On the PC, confirm Wi-Fi is on, Airplane mode is off, and the correct network is selected. Forget and reconnect only if you know the network password.
- Restart the PC. Restart the router only after checking that other users will not be interrupted, then allow it to reconnect fully.
- If only one site or app fails, test another site and app. Record any Windows network error message before trying advanced fixes.
Checks and limitations
- A network reset removes saved network adapters or settings and may require VPN or workplace configuration to be restored.
- Do not share your Wi-Fi password or router admin password when asking for help.
