How to Remove a Blank Page in Microsoft Word
A blank page is usually caused by a hidden paragraph mark, an explicit page break, or a section break. Show formatting marks before deleting anything.
What to do
- Press Ctrl + Shift + 8 to display paragraph marks and other nonprinting characters.
- On the blank page, select extra paragraph marks or a manual page break and delete them. Check the page before and after it.
- If the blank page follows a table at the end of a document, select the final paragraph mark and reduce its font size or paragraph spacing.
- If a section break is responsible, inspect the Layout settings first; changing or removing it can change headers, footers, margins, and page orientation.
Checks and limitations
- Do not remove a section break without checking the formatting of both adjoining sections.
- Use Undo immediately if deleting a break changes the layout of other pages.
